A holiday and Spotify…

September 30, 2017 By Dave F 1 Comment

Having just returned from a lovely two weeks in Crete, it’s back to normality.

One good thing to always come home to is the piano. I miss it a lot when I’m away and it’s great to get back into it.  At my age, it’s a little odd to play again as I get rusty quickly. However, I played some easy pieces to warm up and soon got back into it. The hardest thing is to get back to the regular habitual practice routine, with the added challenges of getting back to work and getting up early.

Although being away from the piano is hard, ene of the good things about being on holiday is the time to listen to music. I recall in my teens having to choose a limited amount of tapes I could take with me, but these days with an mp3 player or a decent wifi and music streaming service, we have a huge choice.  It’s therefore a good opportunity to discover some new music, just like reading that holiday novel!

My musical streaming choice is Spotify and when my son has gone to bed I have a chance to browse.  I found a great piano playlist “Peaceful piano” which is all instrumentals and well worth a listen. There’s 3.144 millions followers as I write, so I guess I’ quite late to the party. There’s close to 150 songs on here, so I didn’t venture far away. Most of the artists were new to me, so there was no need venture elsewhere.

There’s so many pleasing songs here, but one that stood out for me on an early listen was “Forester” by Adam Fincher – a short piece at under 2 1/2 minutes. Easy on the ear and not a complicated melody, but it’s simplicity was striking. Certainly worth a listen. The artist has three songs on Spotify -“Pearly White” and an instrumental cover of “Smoke gets in your eyes”.  I can’t find much information about Adam Fincher, but I will keep looking.

If you have spottily, be sure to check out this playlist.

I don’t usually listen to piano music but this song I loved, it’s weird the artist hasn’t even a Bio description
